We are excited to announce the City of San Bruno is officially in receipt of Alexandria Real Estate Equities’ Tanforan Project Application. The formal application submittal for the redevelopment of the 44-acre site currently known as The Shops at Tanforan kickstarts several important opportunities for the broader San Bruno community to meaningfully participate in the ongoing development process. As a continuation of the Tanforan For San Bruno community engagement process that launched in the fall of 2022, these City-led opportunities for public participation in the development process ensure the proposed project continues to evolve to meet the needs of current and future generations.
First, the San Bruno City Council and Planning Commission will jointly host a submittal Study Session on November 19, 2024 at 6:00pm at the Recreation and Aquatics Center (251 City Park Way, San Bruno, CA 94066). The Study Session provides both bodies a chance to review the current plan and identify key areas for study as City staff process the application.
Second, the Tanforan For San Bruno community engagement process will once again reinvigorate the important public dialogue that has helped the project evolve in response to your input since the fall of 2022. This December, the City will host two drop-in Open House events in the Tanforan Public Engagement Center. These events provide the broader San Bruno community a unique opportunity to learn about the Project Application, interact with the development team, and provide feedback around two important project elements: the retail village and spaces for community gathering. All feedback opportunities will be offered in a digital format on www.TanforanForSanBruno.com.
