Long range planning prepares the planning documents that provide the land use and regulatory framework for the long-term future growth (5 to 15 years) and development of the City. This includes the preparation, revision, and administration of the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Specific Plans.
Planning Initiatives in Progress
San Bruno/South San Francisco Community Based Transportation Plan. The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) has prepared a a Community-Based Transportation Plan (CBTP) for focused areas within San Bruno and South San Francisco that have been designated as Equity Priority Communities (EPCs). The draft CBTP is available for public comment from March 20 until 5:00 PM on April 20, 2026, and can be found at: ccag.ca.gov/community-based-transportation-plans/
