Homework Center reopens Tuesday, September 5, 2023 and runs through Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Free drop in program for K-8. Located in the Downstairs Community Room at the San Bruno Public Library. Registration is required.  A newly completed registration form is required for every school year.

Students and parents must sign a registration form before a student uses the Homework Center. It is recommended that parents of children younger than 10 years old remain in the library building while the child is at the Center.

The Homework Center will provide computers to complete assignments, access to online tutoring and a Homework Center Site Manager who will create an atmosphere conducive to studying, as well as help children complete their homework as time permits. The Homework Center does not provide one-on-one tutoring.

Hours During the Regular School Year

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

    2:30 PM - 6 PM

  • Wednesday
    1:30 PM - 6 PM

Homework Center Afternoon and 3D Printer Activities! All materials provided. Open to K-8 Grade students who are registered for the Homework Center. Not signed up yet? Fill out a Homework Center Registration Form and join in! Check the Library Calendar for scheduled activities.

The Homework Center will be closed on all San Bruno Park School District and Library holidays. Check the Library Calendar for early opening hours (on most school minimum days) and closures.

Become a Volunteer for the Homework Center!

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Homework Center Supervisor, Homework Center Volunteers assist children in the San Bruno Library Homework Center with homework, and special projects such as 3D printing and Wednesday afternoon STEAM activities. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect children with Library resources and provide a welcoming environment where students can complete homework and achieve academic success.

Qualifications:
*Patience and kindness.
*Interest in helping kids with their homework and seeing improvement over time.
*Open to Teens and Adults (at least 14 years old, 9th grade and up).
*Negative TB test result.
*For those 18 and over, LiveScan background check arranged through the Library with San Bruno Police Department is required.
*Availability for 2 hours/week, Monday through Thursday, during Homework Center open hours (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 2:30 PM - 6 PM; Wednesday 1:30 PM - 6 PM).
*Able to complete Homework Center Volunteer training.
*Able to commit for at least one semester.
